UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
The School of Educational Studies (SES) offer the following
undergraduate academic programmes: |
| Bachelor
of Education (Science/Arts) with Honours [B. Ed. (Hons)] |
|
The B. Ed. (Hons) degree is a four-year liberal education
programme designed specifically for in-service teachers and education officers who
wish to further advance themselves professionally and academically.
Besides
providing for professional training in education the programme also allows the
students to specialize in an academic discipline which qualifies them to teach
at the Sixth Form level in school. At the same time, opportunity is also given
for them to choose options from other disciplines as their minor interest to
further widen their exposure and experience of a more liberal
education

| Bachelor
of Arts (Education) with Honours [B. A. (Ed.) (Hons.)] |
|
This programme consists of two components--an academic component
offered by the School of Humanities and/or the School of Management and/or the
School of Social Science and a professional component offered by the School of
Educational Studies. Students are required to major in a single school subject
and minor in another subject relevant to the secondary school
curriculum.
Subjects offered by those Schools for the major-minor
specialization include Malay Language, English Language, Geography, Literature,
History, Economics, Accounting and business-related subjects.

Hons.)] |
|
The Bachelor of Science (Education)
with Honours degree programme is a four-year
professional programme designed to produce teachers of science subjects at the
secondary school level. These teachers will be able to teach at least two
science subjects.
The academic component is offered by the School of
Biological Sciences, School of Chemical Sciences, and School of Computer
Sciences whereas the educational component is offered by the School of
Educational Studies. The students will major in one of the four science
disciplines--Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and minor in another
subject from the above.

The Bachelor of Education (Preschool)
with Honours degree programme is
a four-year professional programme designed to produce teachers who will be
proficient in teaching preschoolers. This programme was introduced in 2003. |
| Bachelor of Education [Special Education] with
Honours |
|
The Bachelor of Education (Special Education)
with Honours degree programme is a
four-year professional programme designed to produce teachers who will be
proficient in teaching students with disabilities. The course will cover three
disability areas- learning disabilities, visual impairment and hearing
impairment. |
| Bachelor of Education [TESOL] with Honours |
| The
Bachelor of Education (TESOL) with Honours degree programme is a four-year
professional programme aimed at producing English teachers to teach English as a
Second Language in Malaysian secondary schools. In this programme, the
professional and pedagogical components are under the School of Educational
Studies while the subject-matter component is under the School of Humanities.
The students take multimedia courses as their minor. These are offered by the
Centre for Instructional Technology and Multimedia. |
