Introduction

2nd Health & Medical Sciences Conference will be organized on 18th - 20th June, 2008 in USM, Penang, as continuity from preceding 1st Health & Medical Sciences Conference (HMSC), 2006. Seeing the importance of research in the areas of health and medical sciences, "Health & Medical Sciences: Research towards Universal Practice" was chosen as the main theme for this coming HMSC.

HMSC was initiated by the organizing committee of PERSALA, Postgraduate Students' Association of USM Health Campus. Through this, HMSC has been organized as one of the component of PIPgC, Penang International Postgraduate Convention, along with LSPC (Life Science Postgraduate Conference) and ICYC (International Conference for Young Chemist. The main purpose of HMSC is to provide a platform for scientific discussion and critical reviews among researchers and most importantly those pursuing postgraduate studies in various clusters under health and medical sciences. It is hoped that HMSC will be able to contribute towards the development of knowledge and research capabilities throughout the nation.
