ABOUT
- A newly established sub-category of NRIC which is applicable to all participants from local and international institution.
- This competition is opened to all undergraduate and diploma students.
- Basically, it is video-based competition which aims to educate and train the students on how to commercialize their ideas in the field of research by a contemporary method of approach.

Important dates to take note:
- 17th March 2019 – Dateline for submission of abstract with the Appendix D and application form.
- 17th March 2019 – Due date for payment transaction
- 17th March 2019 – Dateline for video submission
- 1st Apr – 20th Apr 2019 – People Choice Award adjudication period
- 19th – 20th April 2019 – Result announcement through email and NRIC 2019 Facebook page.
REQUIREMENTS
Abstract
Kindly refer to Appendix e-NRIC for confirmation of abstract format.
Video
Maximum of 5 minutes in length.
The video must portray research publication or product in a creative way. Prototype or research evidence must be shown in the video. An introduction of each participant must be included in the video.

IMPORTANT NOTES
- Winner will be determined based on the highest number of reactions on the video posted in our NRIC 2019 official Facebook page
- The reaction will be counted from the period of 1st April 2019 to 20th of April 2019.
- Winner will be announced at the closing ceremony on the last day of the event.
- Winner will be notified through email and prizes will be posted to the participants.

ABOUT
- Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) had successfully made a breakthrough by organizing Novel Research & Innovation Competition in the academic year of 2006/2007, this achievement remains its splendid for the following academic year until now.
- As a Research Intensive University recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) in 2007, USM is centering its global researches and innovations through multiple approaches; one of them is by the establishment of Novel Research and Innovation Competition (NRIC) by the Students’ Representative Council of USM.
- This year, the 12th Novel Research and Innovation Competition will uphold the theme of SUSTAINABILITY.
- On our 12th years of NRIC, this year is a highly sustainable impact on our community project will be emphasized in conjunction with the vision of Universiti Sains Malaysia. With that said, our competition will be focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which should be incorporated and highlighted by the participants’ project.

Appendix
ABOUT
- A sub event of NRIC, only applicable to local participants only.
- This competition open to all participation from age of 16 until 30 from any institution or privately.
- The competition format is pitching ideas without product or prototype.

Important notes:
- Closing date is 17th March 2019
- Only one info graphical with minimal words is allowed.
- Time allocated for participants are 2 minutes 30 seconds for pitching and 2 minutes 30 seconds for Q&A.
- The idea must be original.
- First come, first serve basis.
- Presentations must be in English.
