Regrettably, due to some important parliamentary sessions, YAB DATO' SERI ABDULLAH BIN HAJI AHMAD BADAWI the Prime Minister of Malaysia would not be able of attending the RECOSD '08 Opening Ceremony. Therefore, RECOSD '08 will be officiated by Y. Bhg. Professor Tan Sri Dato' Dzulkifli Abdul Razak the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia.

The conference would provide an opportunity for the members of the ASEAN scientific community to share their research with others in the region as well as globally. It would also provide a platform for researchers in the region to establish networks for sharing experiences and best practices. The participants would include academics, researchers, policy-makers, reform experts, corporate leaders, and representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations.
