Introduction

Activated carbon (AC) is widely used in gas purification, solvent recovery, wastewater treatment, etc. It is one of the best tools which can be used to reduce risks to human health and provide an aesthetically pleasing product at reasonable cost. This course is intended to explain what AC is, how AC is made, how AC works and regenerated, the need for use of AC, how AC adsorption systems work and many more….

• Activated carbon: starting materials, classification and properties
• Production of activated carbon
• Characterisation of activated carbon
• Regeneration and life cycle for activated carbon adsorption process
• Industrial application of activated carbons
