NKG 171 – National Dental Ceramic Intermediate Course

• All the participants need to bring all their normal porcelain work brushes and instruments.

Course Outline
Fabrication of long span bridgework includes waxing, investing and finishing. The construction of bridges of various designs utilizes metal and porcelain separately or in combination.

Proper waxing, investing and casting fixed bridgework are significantly incorporated, presenting importance of metal wax-ups to prevent distortion while joining wax bridges prior to invest, improve efficiency and quality of crowns and bridges and porcelain – fused to metal restorations.

Learning Objectives:-

Upon completion of this course attendee will:
• understand the basis of bridge fabrication in handling internal stress
• learn how to reproduce tooth form on ceramic bridge with ideal function in mastication
• learn basic techniques in fabrication of long span bridge
• experience the correct metal wax- ups and no distortion prior to invest
• have experience on porcelain layers build-up and grind to fit after the first bake, add-on porcelain after the second bake for porcelain correction.
• understand the advancement and benefits of Ceramco 3
• understand the characteristics and effects of different porcelains in the Ceramco 3 system


The speaker: Christian Specht 

Christian Specht is the Technical Consultant on Lab Products of Dentsply Asia. He is responsible for providing technical support to crown & bridge products in South Asia. The key areas include India, Thailand, Vietnam and Indochina. Christian brings to Dentsply with over 20 years of experience in dentistry business. Before joining Dentsply, Christian owned his own lab in Berlin for 7 years. Owing to family reason, he is now living in Bangkok. 

Christian had his apprenticeship as dental technician in Kiel, Germany. After his apprenticeship, he worked as a dental technician in a few dental labs in Berlin and became the Lab Manager in the last lab with management and business responsibility. With training from the most sophisticated dental market, Christian is an all-rounded ceramist with a strong passion on Degussa products. He has substantial experience in using Golden Gate System and other Ducera porcelains. 

Being a German lab owner in the past, Christian has a deep understanding of commercial lab operation in a sophisticated & developed market. Through his constant communication with different German manufacturers, dentists and patients, he thoroughly understands today’s challenges in fulfilling patient’s and dentists’ need with the latest products in an ever increasing competitive market.
