  Kaedah Penterjemahan Ayat Kerjaan Bahasa Arab ke Bahasa Melayu: Beberapa Contoh dalam Kitab Jawi Lama

Abstract

Anis Shahirah Abdul Sukur obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpretation (2008) from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). She is currently a masters student at USM in the field of translation. Her main research interests are editing, translation and translation in journalism.

 

Ahmad Nazuki @ Marzuki Yaakub is a Senior Lecturer at UiTM Terengganu. His research areas are translation, teaching of Arabic and old Jawi’s texts. The latest publication is a research in “Error Analysis in Translation’ (May 2010).

Penterjemahan Puisi Arab ke Bahasa Melayu: Mencari Keindahan dalam Keterbatasan

Abstract

Dr. Azman bin Che Mat is a senior lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA (Terengganu). He has a PhD in Translation and Comparative Linguistic from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, M.A. in Arabic and Islamic Civilization from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and B.A. in Arabic and Its Literature from University of Jordan. His research area includes Translation, Teaching and Learning, and Sosiolinguistic. He has several international and national publications.

 

 

Azmi bin Ahmad obtained Diploma in Arabic Language and Literature and Advanced Diploma in Syariah (KUSZA), Diploma in Academic Writing (PLM-DBP) and Certificate in General Translation (ITNM). Now, he is pursuing his Master degree in the field of Islamic literature. He worked as a lecturer at Kolej Islam Darul Ridzuan, Perak. He is also a registered translator with ITNM, member of Persatuan Penterjemah Malaysia and Persatuan Linguistik Malaysia. His specialization is on Arabic literature and translation from Arabic to Malay. He has published a book, ‘Ketika Hatiku Ingin Berhijrah’ (Mustread Sdn. Bhd.)

Abstract

Barli Bram teaches English at Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. He finished his undergraduate study at Sanata Dharma and did his MEd at Boston University, Massachusetts, USA. He is now completing his PhD at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He has a profound interest in morphology, writing and translation.   Chew Fong Peng, is a Senior Lecturer at Faculty of Education, University of Malaya. Her research areas include Malay Language & Literature in education, children literature in education, and Cohinese education. She has published four books, articles in academic journals including Journal of US-China Education (ISI Journal), chapters in books, proceedings, and translated books.

Abstract

Choong Foong Yam graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia, where she obtained a B.A. (Hons) degree in Translation and Interpreting. She is currently undertaking a Master’s degree in Translation Studies, also at USM.

 

Soh Bee Kwee has been serving as a lecturer for the past 10 years with the Department of Malaysian Languages & Applied Linguistics, Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, University of Malaya. Her areas of expertise are: Contrastive Textual Analysis and the teaching of Chinese Language & Linguistics.


The Publishing Industry of Manga Translation

Ding Nan is a M.A. student in Translation Studies, School of Humanities, Universiti Sains Malaysia. His research focuses on manga translation, especially on the publication of translated manga.


 

 

Goh Sang Seong is a Senior Lecturer at the Malay Language, Translation and Interpreting Section, School of Humanities, Universiti Sains Malaysia. His major interest is on Chinese-Malay translation and translation studies. He has published a series of Chinese classical stories books into Malay. He is currently conducting a research on Malay-Chinese proverbs translation and the grammar errors in Chinese-Malay translation.

Hasuria Che Omar (Ph. D) is an Associate Professor in Translation at Malay Language, Translation and Interpretation Department, School of Humanities, Universiti Sains Malaysia. She has been teaching Translation for almost 17 years and has written and published a number of articles and books on translations. She has also co-edited a number of books on Linguistics, Translation, Communication, Literature and Education. She is currently doing her research in Novels and Films Adaptation, Audiovisual Translation Trainings and has just completed her research on Sign Language Interpreting. She is also the Vice-President of Malaysian Translators Association and renowned as a consultant in Translation field in Malaysia.

 

Leelany Ayob is a Senior Lecturer in the Translation and Interpreting Section at Universiti Sains Malaysia, with particular interest in the training of interpreters and translators, as well as audio-visual translation. The latest publication is “Issues in Interpreting Pedagogy” for International Journal of Interpreter Education, Conference for Interpreter Trainers : (http://www.cit-asl.org) published in November 2010.

Abstract

Hossein Vahid Dastjerdi is an Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics in English Language Department at the University of Isfahan, Iran. He has been a fellow of the English Centers at the universities of Isfahan and Shiraz where he has investigated into issues related to materials preparation for GE. and ESP. courses. He is the author of a number of books in this respect. He has also published a good number of articles on discourse, testing and translation in local and international journals.

 

Wan Halizawati bt. Wan Mahmood is a language teacher at School of Languages, Literacies & Translation, USM. Her research areas are translation and editing (Malay/English grammar). She is now doing her M.A in Translation Studies in USM. She is also a registered part-time translator at Institut Terjemahan Negara Malaysia (ITNM) as well as translator/editor of the School.

Abstract

Kais Amir Kadhim, is a holder of Ph.D in Translation in 2008 and M.A in Translation in 2004 as well. He published a number of articles on various translation issues, both on theory and practice in different international journals and conferences as well. His latest book is entitled ‘Style and Translation in Action: with reference into English-Arabic News”, is sent to The Edwin Mellen Press, USA; for reviewing purpose. Beside his interest in the theoretical issues of translation, Kadhim shows special interest in other practical issues in this field such as political discourse of News texts, pragmatics, Arabic linguistics, sociolinguistics and discourse analysis.

Low Sock Ken is the editor of one of the Chinese newspaper in Indonesia.  A participant of Hong Kong Translation Research Summer School in 2009. (Hong Kong Baptist University). She served the Chinese media industry in Malaysia for 29 years. Her interest is in news translation.

 

Zhang Chengzhi is a PHD candidate of Translation Studies in USM, and lecturer of Hebei University, China. His research areas are literary translation, translation theory, and Chinese translation history. His latest publication is a journal paper, A Study of Brand’s Translation from the Perspective of Nida’s Translation Theory, published in China Adult Education.

Masood Khoshsaligheh is a PhD student at Universiti Sains Malaysia. He has a BA and MA from English Department at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran. He has worked as an interpreter, translator, editor and ESP tutor in the past ten years. His research interests include Psychometrics and Ideology in Translation as well as Translator Education.

 

Melati binti Abdul Majid is studying for her master’s degree in Translation at the School of Humanities, Universiti Sains Malaysia. She obtained her B.A. in Translation and Interpreting from USM in 2009.

Muhammad Fauzi Jumingan is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Foreign Languages, UPM. His specialization is on translation of Arabic-Malay (theory and practice) and Comparative Linguistic of Arabic-Malay. He has published several books, i.e. ‘Penterjemahan Arab-Melayu-Arab: Peraturan dan Dasar’, and ‘Glosari Istilah Bidang Pengajian Penterjemahan’.

Abstract

Naraset Pisitpanporn completed his Ph.D. in linguistics from La Trobe University, Australia. He is a lecturer at the Research Institute of Language and Culture of Asia (RILCA), Mahidol University, Thailand. He teaches Modern Khmer, Southeast Asian Linguistics, and Language and Culture. He is a member of editorial broad of Mon – Khmer Studies Journal. He also works as a volunteer in Thai-Khmer interpretation for non-governmental organizations involving rural development and trafficking issues. His last publication was on language teaching: Khmer language for the Thais and Thai for the Khmers.

 

Norazita Abdul Aziz obtained her bachelor degree in Mass Communication (Universiti Teknologi Mara) in 1998 and masters degree in Corporate Communication (Universiti Putra Malaysia) in 2000, and the Diploma of Professional Translation (Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka) in 2008. Now, she is a lecturer of national language at Mata Pelajaran Wajib (MPW) Section, Kolej Universiti SEGI, Kota Damansara, Selangor. She has published ‘Variasi Bahasa Melayu Di Malaysia’ and distributed it in the form of e-book.

Abdoreza Seyari obtained his B.A. in English Translation and MA in Applied Linguistics. He has worked in a number of institutions as an English teacher in Tehran. He is currently teaching at Azad University, Tehran. He has translated/ interpreted in some international conferences. His research interests centers around Phraseology and Translation Studies.

 

Ang Lay Hoon is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia. She involves in various research projects related to translation, sociolinguistics, Chinese studies and cross cultural studies. She has published widely in the fields of language learning, language use, and translation.

 

Aw Yong Siow Chin @ Aw Siow Chin is currently at her third year of degree course, majoring in Chinese Program and minoring in English Program in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Her research interest is translation and language study.
