| The term “Sanggar Sanjung” means the “hall of fame” and this sobriquet was chosen by Universiti Sains Malaysia for a very special event. |

| Initially proposed in 2000, the University now holds Sanggar Sanjung Award Gala the Night on an annual basis, normally at the beginning of a new year. It celebrates the outstanding contributions of the staff in several aspects and honours them for their efforts and achievements. |

| A joyous occasion, Sanggar Sanjung is a celebration of collective success and personal satisfaction that honours the creative and innovative spirit as well as rewards hardworks and dedication and an unstinting commitment to excellence. |
