Heritage is part of a nation’s culture and a way of life of past communities that shape the future. Cultural heritage either tangible or intangible include archaeology, architecture, science or technology of a particular culture. Cultural heritage may also include cultural landscapes (natural features that may have cultural attributes).
Preservation and promotion of built and natural heritage requires huge investment. While many believe that the responsibility of preservation and promotion of heritage is of the state, individuals and organizations can also contribute.
It is hoped that papers focusing on economic perspectives of heritage can contribute to decision making process.
Papers exploring the economic value of a heritage site are also welcomed.
Environment
Topics on this issue investigate the relationship between the natural and tangible heritage with the environment. Issues include how environment such as climate change, pollution and natural disaster affect the preservation of heritage. Environment also includes human activities such as vandalisms and visitor impacts on a particular heritage site.
Communities play an important role in the preservation and promotion of society’s heritages Community participation includes the activities and roles of individuals, interest groups, associations, institutions, and civil societies.
Heritage is often seen as one of the potential tourism products to be promoted. Heritage Tourism is defined as leisure trip with the purpose of visiting historic, cultural or natural attraction for an experience of the past.
