MENTAL HEALTH
FACILITATION (MHF)
(Certification by National Board for Certified Counselors-International
NBCC-I and USM)

Mission Statement
Mission Statement To provide equitable access to quality first contact
holistic mental health interventions (including mental health promotion
or prevention, advocacy, monitoring, referral, and treatment) which
respects the dignity and human rights of all, meets population needs,
and is based on the best available evidence that is contextualized with
global, regional, or local, socio-cultural, economic, and geographic
realities. Mentor Health Facilitator
Mental Health Facilitator (MHF) is an individual who have the knowledge
and skills to increase the available mental health resources.
All MHF undergo 30 hours of specific training to enhance their skills
in identifying, referral, and in certain cases, to provide support to
clients who require mental health care. These areas include knowledge
and practical aspects of the helping skills, mental disorder, disaster/trauma,
community service and referral to service providers.
MHF training can increase your ability and skills in assisting clients
to handle their mental health issues.
Upon completion, each MHF will be registered and certified by NBCCI
for a period of 3 years.
USM Human Development Lab is responsible to facilitate the MHF training
in USM and Malaysia.
