PECIPTA 2007 EVALUATION RULES

Eligibility
This category is open to all local and foreign universities and university colleges that are exhibitors in PECIPTA 2007. An exhibitor is
allowed to submit as many entries as he/she wishes but a separate form shall be filled for each entry.
The organiser reserves the right to accept or reject any application for evaluation.

Display and Demonstration by Exhibitors
Exhibitors shall (if so required by the Panel of Evaluators) display and demonstrate to the Panel of Evaluators the working models/prototypes, illustrations or drawings and samples of products described in their entries. In the case of manufactured products, a description of the raw materials used and the various steps involved maybe required.
Such displays and demonstrations shall be maintained at the exhibition site for the entire duration of the exhibition of PECIPTA 2007.
The final evaluation shall take place at the exhibition site on the first and second day of the exhibition or any other day deemed suitable by the
organisers.

Evaluation Criteria
The general criteria for evaluation are as follows:

Novelty and inventiveness

Usefulness
-
Commercial potentialities
-
Contribution to Sustainable Development

Academic recognition (e.g. publications – please provide evidence)

Awards and Prizes

Exhibits of inventions would be awarded points for each of the six (6) criteria mentioned in (3) above. The maximum score is 60 points. Medals would be awarded based on the total points scored.
Gold 52 - 60 points
Silver 46 - 51 points
Bronze 40 - 45 points

The
Minister of Higher Education medal would be awarded to the invention that has won a gold medal and that contributes most to Sustainable Development.

The Panel of Evaluators reserves the right to declare no winners in any of the medal categories if the Panel deems that there are no entries of deserving merit.

Disclaimer

The decision of the Panel of Evaluators shall be final and binding. Exhibitors are deemed to agree that they shall abide by such decisions and shall not be entitled to be paid or indemnified for any losses, expenses or damages by the Panel of Evaluators or any of its members or the organisers of the exhibition and its officers and employees in respect of any matters which may arise from or be connected to the organisation conduct and results of the evaluation.

In the case of entries which have not been granted Letters of Patent, Utility Innovation Certificates of Registration of Designs by any competent authority for the granting of such rights, any favourable or unfavourable decisions by the Panel of Evaluators shall have no legal standing nor be cited in any way in regard to the patentability or registrability of such items under the respective laws.

Jurisdiction
In the case of a dispute or any problems/questions not covered by the above rules, the
organiser’s decision shall be final.
