Journal of Construction in Developing Countries bags Ministry of Education CREAM Award
Journal of Construction in Developing Countries has been awarded by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia as one of the recipients for the Publication Encouragement Scheme under the Current Research in Malaysia (CREAM) status recognition. The award accords recognition to selected Malaysian academic journals to encourage continued excellence in research and publication. Penerbit Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM Press) and the Editorial team are honoured with this recognition. This is certainly a new milestone which will further spur the team’s commitment in creating impact in scholarly publications. |
Call for Paper for Special Issue on “AEC Sector Role to Urbanise India” Guest Editors: Dr Vanita Ahuja and Dr Subashini Suresh Issue Publication Date – 2017 India is experiencing fast paced urbanisation. As per reports, in 2011 India’s urban population was 31% of its population and by 2031 it is expected to be 40%. This will result in growth in existing urban areas, development of peri-urban areas and urbanisation of smaller towns. This requires large scale development of infrastructure, housing and other built environment facilities; established systems for environmental friendly and sustainable development; redesigning of administrative systems to manage urbanisation; and realignment of social fabric to have seamless transition of all sections of society to urban living. In response to this, Government of India has launched the ‘Smart Cities’ scheme and other related schemes like ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ and ‘Hriday’ to name a few. Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) sector plays a crucial role in this process and this issue of ‘Journal of Construction in Developing Countries’ would like to publish global research addressing the role of AEC sector in urbanisation of India.
