Call for Paper for Special Issue on “AEC Sector Role to Urbanise India”

Guest Editors: Dr Vanita Ahuja and Dr Subashini Suresh
Issue Publication Date – 2017

India is experiencing fast paced urbanisation. As per reports, in 2011 India’s urban population was 31% of its population and by 2031 it is expected to be 40%. This will result in growth in existing urban areas, development of peri-urban areas and urbanisation of smaller towns. This requires large scale development of infrastructure, housing and other built environment facilities; established systems for environmental friendly and sustainable development; redesigning of administrative systems to manage urbanisation; and realignment of social fabric to have seamless transition of all sections of society to urban living. In response to this, Government of India has launched the ‘Smart Cities’ scheme and other related schemes like ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ and ‘Hriday’ to name a few.
