Arrival Information:

A foreign postgraduate student, regardless of whether by coursework mode or research mode is advised to arrive at least 2 weeks before the registration day. Many overseas flights to Penang will usually transit in Kuala Lumpur wherein passengers will be transferred to an internal flight to either Penang, Kota Bharu or Ipoh. All check-in luggage will be automatically transferred to the final destination but students are advised to carry with them some spare clothing in case of any emergency. The student is also advised to bring along some foreign currency which can be exchanged at the airport for RM for food, internal travel and general expenses. Please bring along the letter of offer so as to facilitate immigration clearance at the airport. Upon arrival at the Penang International Airport, you are advised to take the taxi which is about 10 minutes ride to the USM main campus at the rate of RM15. However, for the Kelantan branch campus it is a 25 minutes ride from the Kota Bharu Airport at the rate of RM20 while for the Perak branch campus it is an hour's ride from the Ipoh Airport at the rate of RM40.
